About

NVC is a brand new program premiering at Newman this year. Our goal for NVC is to create a united group of students and residents committed to grow in compassion through education, action, reflection, and prayer on social justice concerns. We are also promoting the belief that within that umbrella term of social justice concerns also lies pro-life issues and service.

One main component of NVC will be the community service goal. At the beginning of the program, we will ask students and residents to pledge their service. We will provide pledge cards where participants can pledge as few or as many hours as they feel doable, and we will record the parish’s progress throughout the semester. To motivate participants, we will have a group goal of how many hours of service we want to achieve.

Through NVC, we also want to bring the greater community together, beyond our parish. To do this, we will collaborate with other events happening on campus, build relationships with other student groups, and open our events to anyone who wishes to participate beyond the Catholic community.

Mission Statement:

We strive to welcome all people to Christ and our community to promote our presence in the community.

We seek to deepen our understanding of Catholic faith.

We work to create a united group of students and residents committed  to grow in compassion through education, action, reflection and prayer on social justice concerns.
